Against this background, the Delegation of the
European Union to Canada organizes its fifth Common
Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) Symposium

the event

The 5th Security & Defence Symposium will address the emerging defence challenges on both sides of the Atlantic and examine how the EU and Canada can work more closely together.

This enlightening and interactive half-day event will bring together decision-makers and experts to exchange knowledge and perspectives on pressing issues related to Canada-EU security.

The focus of the symposium is the EU’s Permanent Structure Cooperation (PESCO) initiative. PESCO represents a process of closer cooperation among member states in security and defence in order to promote enhanced coordination, increased investment in defence and sharing in developing defence capabilities.

The Security and Defence Symposium is the place to learn more about PESCO, ask questions of key individuals and offer views on how it can help both Canada and the EU meet our commitments to peace and security.
